my bad I was going to edit it in but i exited it by mistake then my computer messed up n i had to restart it haha. i'll edit it in now

Hard to say with that lighting... you never see a logo or even a front shot of the mic. You can tell it's tapered from top to bottom; could be anything from a MXL 2001 to a Neumann U87. Maybe even one of those new TLM 67's that are tapered the same way the U87's are.

I've seen one of those shockmount designs before; they're universal mounts. I don't know of any mic that comes shipped with a mount like that.

Could be a Rode NT2. Hard to see and it is a standard shape.

Cheers

Alan.

no i don't think it is, it is shaped different on the top the mic, the NT2 curves in at the top, looks like that mic doesn't

im pretty sure it is a u87, it looks like it anyway

There is an early (very early) model NT2 that looks like this, there was also an early model NT1 that looked the same but had a screw thread on the bottom for mounting. I have 2 x Early NT1's and an Early model NT2.

There have now been 3 versions of each model produced.

But it could still be almost any mic from the view on the video.

Cheers

more importantly what kind of ashtray is that sitting on top of the guys sampler. it looks like it is pretty precise in the amount of ash it allows onto the equipment.

i bet if i had ash placement technique like that guy that i could finally get that pro sound to my recordings.

It is! i like that this is the closet with the guys clothes thrown everywhere...

i lol'd at the clothes on the floor to, i was kinda mad when I seen the ashtray on the MPC because I really want one, but that guy makes great beats/songs in that shitty little studio
