My grandfather left behind some gear (including a 1966 Super Reverb). My question is regarding 2 shure Unisphere B 588SA's. I pretty sure they were used just for live vocals but I was wondering if they are of any use as a recording mic? Anybody heard of these or use them?

p.s this website is bloody excellent, gotta get some sleep!

What's goin' on? Have I stumped everyone or is this mic such a piece o' crap that it's not worth commenting?? :D

just early versions of all the unidyne stuff. might be good for live or cabs

I think I have one, is that the shiny kind of SM58 like mic?

I've never used it because the one I have sounds thin and edgy, but it can be that it's just not good or so.

I also have an old 518 which looks more like the 57 and this one sounds better, but I also never use it.

Han, sounds like a 588SD. I have one laying around here somewhere.

Han, the mic I have is shiny and has a chrome ball end. As far I can tell it is an unbalanced mic. Can anybody tell me how to wire in a balanced config.
