Hey kranksters, anybody heard the krankinstein or revolution? If so would you buy one if you played death metal? :P

I only know Krank from soundclips. The cabs are terrible. The heads through Mesa cabs sound good. Nothing about them justifies the price. For the same money, or less, you could be playing Mesas, Bogners, or used Engls.

If you could get one for cheap, they would do DM well.

I like krank. But not as much as Meth. What I really like is getting fucked up on Coke first, then smoking some meth and then right when that kicks in, start with the valium and whiskey!! Shit that's awesome. Acid and shrooms are nice too, but only when your on speed. Add them to downers, and you just go to sleep. One of these days, Im gonna get ripped on PCP and Meth and then jump out of a plane while having sex. Thats gonna be a helluva rush.

Whooooooohoooooo!!!

Lets compare to mesa boogie... About the same price, whats the difference in tone and quality?

I have never heard a Krank in person, but I know that all the metalcore and ozzfest bands are playing them now. Haha, good enough reason for me not to want one. :D That is all you see in the guitar magazines.

They are an Arizona company. I would support them for that reason (and since they are supposed to be good quality Mesa ripoffs) if I needed a metal amp, but really, its just another metal amp that just doesn't say Mesa on the front...but costs just as much...and is orange.

Funny thing ya know.....metal heads don't wear any colors other than lots of black with white accents and a drip of red now and then, but they all seem to want an orange colored amp.     ;) :D

Check out Harmony Central. Try the forums, not the reviews. Krank was banned from the review section after they sent shills to post fake user reviews. Also, users periodically surface to make one post, to the effect of "how come every 1 hates Krank but never played1 ?? They are teh awesome."

Several users have tried the amps, and that is what I related above (their experience jibes with what I got from soundclips).

I live in Tempe, Arizona, where the company is based. When their store opened up, I went down to check it out.

I didn't spend too much time with the amp (15 minutes or so) but I was very impressed. I played on the Revolution. In the little time I spent, I was very pleased with both the clean and dirty channels. The distortion was flexible... from classic rock-type distortion to ***chunk-a-chunk-a-SQUEEEEEAALLL*** metal sounds.

Like I said, I didn't get really deep into the amp, so I can't give you a full report.

If I played in a metal band, I would get one. However, playing artsy-indie-psychadelic-pop, I have no need for such an amp.

Oh yeah, I don't like Mesa's. I like the Kranks. Who would have guessed???

Did anyone hear Dimebag play after he switched to Krank??? That was an amazing sound.... but that guy got good tones out of Randall amps too, and that's damn-near impossible!

Rick Rubin bought one. That should count for something :)

I've played a revolution through my Marshall 1960 straight cab. a few days ago. It belonged to a friend of mine, who let me try it out at practice. I have a Marshall JCM2000 TSL and I basically switched heads for a while.

The Krank pretty much ate my marshall for breakfast. The sound was very tight and focused, and really clean. You may be aware, but you cannot switch channels on the revolution without a footswitch, which I did not have, so I couldn't try the clean channel. I was suprised at how controlled the sound was. Very little noise. I wasn't even using a noise gate and didn't feel the need for one. My marshall is super noisy one you push the gain to about 10 o'clock or more.

Basically I'm sold on the Krank. I'm going to trade my marshall in for one soon. I don't care who else uses them. For tight, heavy tone it's pretty much perfect. I preffer the sound over that of a Mesa any day, but I've always thought mesas were overrated.

I think I am still going to go with the mesa though. Bottom line for me is the 5 year warranty. I have had a few amps now that I wish I would have had that.

I have now actually tried out a Krank and I was really impressed as well. I've also heard some very nice recorded clips with them.

I love the revolution and have one on layaway. But I think the extra gain on the krankenstein or whatever is pretty useless.

I think the extra 4 years of warranty definately outweighs the krank deal...
