I might be willing to make a trade for something decent in return.

.

Preferably something I could use on either snare or vocals.

Whad'you have on hand that you might consider parting with?

.

i had one of those and turned it around right away. i forget if i got more than what i paid but i couldnt wait to get rid of it.

one of the stores was blowen em out and i figured the muffled sound was why

I love the way they sound on floor toms and rack mounts. Not the real small ones though (toms). But I've never thought of them as "muffled".

Muffled????? This IS an ATM25 we're talking about????Right? NOT the PRO25.....

Atm25 I have had one for over 10 years and it sounds great.

I have one. will probably get another. they sound fantastic in my opinion.

which leads to the question why would at market 2 mics, one of which has a great rep and the other which sounds like ass, and call them both 25?

i was horrified

I think the Pro 25 sounds great on toms, but would never use it on kick, as I find it really boxy.

In retrospect, a bad idea (both mics are discontinued, this may be why), however, they seemed to be following the Shure policy of introducing lower-end versions of their pro mics, with a slightly differing designation, al-la SM/PG. The fatal difference being that the SM series had far more history behind them when the PG's started, where the ATM/Pro were released about the same time.

wow thanks for reminding me about the pg series

yes it does seem disastrous to designate a crap sound with the same number

its all very tempting for us folks who have close to no money at all

The only differance in the pro25 and the atm25 is the housing.
And the reason they discontinued it (I am guessing here) is that sales where not that good for them cause everyone and his brother bought the d112 which is a pain in the butt mic for me. When the d112 came out there wasnt alot of choices for kick mics that where affordable.
I hate the sound and I hate the mount for the mic. It takes up to much room and is hard to position in a kick if you happen to use a small hole in the front head. I had two of them and got rid of them real soon.

I'm glad I got mine when I did, then. It's been the perfect mic for my 18" floor tom.

i was recording the kick with a nady large diaphragm condenser

i thought i could get a "better" sound with a "real" kick mic

i was mistaken

sadly

and completely

if i ever mic another kick it will be with a large condenser and fuck what everybody else says

and it wont be 1/4 from the drumhead or inside the shell (LOL)

reference the dave brubek quartet's take 5

Two words for you - EV RE-20. Best results I've ever gotten for rock kick.
