Anybody else bought a guitar for what it looks like?

That's a really beautiful guitar!

To answer your question: Yes.

I ended up keeping the guitar. It ended up being more to my liking as a player than my first impression. In fact, I've used it on a number of recordings. I used it for all of the lead guitar parts on this track:

I nearly only buy guitars for what they look like. Explorers, Vs, iceman, kelly, warlock, etc...

I can get them to all play the way I want them to, so it generally comes down to the looks.

Yes, another that just looked nice. It plays ok, but not one I would turn too that often. I have a chickenbacker 12 string, a 335-ish red one, and a darker wood LP too.

Interesting... they haven't quite mastered the PRS thing yet. Others can be downright hard to tell!

I bought a £300 Jackson King V, because it looks ridiculous.
Like the picture, but just flip the black and white.
The tremelo arm was missing, and the guitar is largely crap, but it still looks ridiculous.
I saw a better through neck version recently, but I can't buy every guitar I see.

I'm a bit of the opposite, I tend not to buy guitars with looks that I dislike. I like the looks of the guitars that I buy, but that's not the reason I bought them. I've only bought 3 guitars unplayed and I knew I liked those particular models of guitar. There are several guitars that I don't like playing. PRS guitars just feel terrible to me. I almost bought a Carvin until I played it. The neck was uncomfortable.

On the other hand, I don't like pointy guitars, Flying Vs Explorers, etc. I prefer the more common styles, 335, LP, Strat or Tele styles.

At this stage, I'm not buying any guitars. I keep looking at them, but when I walk down the steps and see a half dozen guitar cases lined along the wall, I think I've got my bases covered. It's like looking at the cute ladies walking down the street....

I have 2 Fireflys that are as good as anything.
The "335" is the Firefly. I replaced the Asian pups with a pair of Seymour Duncan Custom Customs. I used it yesterday to record some stuff with my friends.
The "SG" is also a Firefly. The pups are Pearly Gates by Seymour Duncan. Interestingly, it's not as top heavy as a Gibson so there is a little less neck dive.

I know this post is about Chinese guitars, but I have a particular place in my heart for Korean Epiphones. I have 5 that I can put my eyes on.
They are all gorgeous, sound great and are a joy to play.

This topic is kinda like comparing UK, Canadian and USA girls. Doesn't matter where they were born. They're all beautiful
