Any thoughts on this SG?

I'm with notCardio. All Epi's do not suck, and all Gibsons are not good guitars. Guitars are made out of wood by humans, and they are as different as snowflakes or fingerprints. Moral-Don't buy any guitar at any price that you have not played. I owned a brand new SG supreme with an unstable neck that never held tune. I spent more time adjusting the truss rod than playing it. (I screwed up and learned my lesson). Maybe it was a good axe for a lead guitarist and a set of .09's, but for 0.11's with a wound G-string and heavy rhythm, it was useless. I've got an Epi Les Paul I bought used, and switched out the pups, and it is simply not for sale. It's a better guitar than the LP Custom I bought new in 1972. Forget the headstock. Forget the hype. Just play a shitload of SG's until you find the right one. The biggest difference between cheap guitars and expensive ones is you have to play a lot more cheap ones before you find a good one. The expensive ones are also easier to resell, because there are a lot of suckers out there.-Richie

Thanks Richard, that sounds like good advice.

I`ll just keep ordering in SG`s to the store that I work in and sell them of untill I get a eureka :D

IMO, the G400 is a worse/lower-end guitar than the Epi SG. i've played several of them and not a one of them was worth a damn, IMO.

The G400 IS the Epi SG standard.

I have a g-400 and I love it to bits. I think I got lucky, but it has the most amazing action. They switched the manufacturing to a new plant right before I bought mine('02 or so), I think it was outsourced before that. I think the chinese ones are of better quality then the previous generation.

I have a Gibson SG special I'm going to gussy up with some new hardware.

It was a poor choice for my first "real" electric guitar - it's kind of a beast.

Sounds great, but it's a beast.

I kinda looks like a SG only Cooler IMO.

I got it for half retail Price so I`m happy :)

I just hope it is as good as it looks, I`ve tried several other Hagstrøms and I liked most of them.
Crossing my fingers

A little OT, but I've noticed that Hagstrom is back over here now, after a lengthy absence. I kinda always wanted a Swede, which was Les Paulish, but with a sort of almost Gretsch-ish vibe. It always seemed like a guitar for guys who could play way better than me, like a professional guitarist's guitar, not a rocker. I wanted one anyway.

Hey, Nak, way to stay faithful to the home-boys! Good for you. Let's keep variety alive.

Looks cool!

A little OT, a little ON topic

Somebody posted a YouTube link to Will Lee's side project, the Fab Faux, a Beatles cover band. One of the tunes was 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. It was incredible! Some of their other covers were great, some just OK, but that one just shook my world. The guitarist recreated the sound of Clapton's solo (as well as the note) so perfectly, I was floored. And it was an SG (which had to have been painted to be a copy of Clapton's famous SG from Cream, it just couldn't be the original).

Anyway, to sum it up, an regular 2 HB SG was one of the few guitars I haven't really had a hankering for, at least not for a couple of decades.

All that has changed now. I must have one.

Thanks. Thanks a lot, Fab Faux guitar guy.

Bastard.
