hi, i am currently using a m audio fast track pro with an imac quad core. i wish to record my roland td20 utilizing its 8 direct outs i do also use midi. i am looking for a new interface and have them narrowed down to two makes. 1:motu mk3 ultralite firewire. 2: focusrite saphire pro 40. i would also be using this for guitar and bass with native instruments guitar rig pro 4 and maybe vocals{don't have a mic at this moment in time}. i have done research on the both of these and i was wondering if anyone out there is using either of them and can give me some reviews before i buy? thanks for taking the time to read this.

I own the Focusrite Pro 40 and I can say that it is a wonderful interface. I'm not sure how the MOTU interface compares against the Pro 40, but if you ever want to record drums, the Pro 40 is probably the better option (considering it has eight mic pres). If you are not interested in recording drums at any point in the near future, I'd go for the MOTU since MOTU is better known to be used in the professional audio world.

I tried the Pro 40 and it had a lot of room to grow. My old, old, old pc was really strugling with the Pro40.
I went to the Tascam 1641 USB and it was online and had multiple inputs, with this old, old, old pc, but my sons newer PC took the 1641 right away too. Very, very happy with it ($175 used) and now its a 1800, I guess.

I recall the pro40 having a really well built feel and the knobs seemed to be higher quality, good sound when I could get it working.
Its Firewire.
