Any Supersonic owners out there?

I began searching for a new amp about a week ago at GC.

I started out with a Fender 25R it had a very nice clean sound if you kept the
volume way down 2 or below then the speaker began breaking up in a bad way.

I returned that a couple days later and bought a VOX AD50 this amp had lots
of volume but did some odd things. Some times it sounded great some times
it didn't. Also it had some hiss that carried with the volume.

I figured I would go with an all tube I was planning on getting the Epiphone
Blues Combo but they didn't have one. I tryed out the Twin Reverb nice but
a little to clean, a Bassman pretty nice but I didn't care for the tweed, a couple of Devilles okay.

Then I ran across a Supersonic combo it sounded great and did everything
I wanted plus it looked great in the blonde tolex.
I noticed one small gllitch after I got it home of course
I found when I turn up the reverb over about 3.5 it begins feeding back on its own. You can turn every control down and it won't stop with this low level feedback till it is set back down to 3.5.

I don't really need reverb over that amount but it does annoy me that it does this. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if I have a problem.
Another amp I was considering because it seemed like it would be good for studio work is the Fender Twin. 100W with switch to cut it down to 1/4 power. Any input on this one or the Supersonic would be appreciated.
What I really like about the SS is that it is fairly light and sounds great they didn't have a Twin in stock to demo but it looks like it is a heavy amp.

Hmmm, doesn't look like a popular amp around here.

I've debated on returning it but I can't do it. You cares if the reverb rings on its own at times if it sounds better than any other amp I've played. Compared to all the other fender tube amps I've played including bandmasters, bandmasters with reverb from the late 60s, twin reverbs and all the new fender tube amps it rules.
I have not had an opportunity to play the new twin but it is just to heavy to haul around anyway. The only other amp that sounded close was the Bassman but it was more one diminsional that the SS and while I like tweed guitar cases I don't like it as much as tolex.

Ah screw reverb, if you're happy with the tone then I don't think it really matters. I just recently bought a Vox AC30CC and it's tremelo is garbage but the tone is so nice I think I can live with it. Just buy a reverb pedal or something if you need it that bad. How does that amp do for metal tones? I'm in need of a good metal amp.

I don't really play any metal except for a few old Black Sabath tunes put I suspect it would do well. It has a couple of cascading gain controls and a lot of power. You would probably have to add a cabinet to it as it only has one Celestion vintage 30 speaker. How can you put a 30 or 40 watt speaker in a 60 watt combo amp???? Gain 1 adjust the level of distortion gain 2 the level of sustain it definitely does a lot better and louder than my Marshall VR100.

I tried the amp at my local shop for a bit, and it can do metal better than most Fender amps. Don't expect grinding death metal (maybe possible with the right guitar/pickups, and/or an OD in front of it), but it can do thrash metal pretty well. I really liked the option to switch between a bright Twin-ish clean and the warmer Bassman-ish clean. Supposedly it isn't too dissimilar than the old Prosonic amps, but people who have made the comparison liked the Prosonic better. If I had the money, I'd get this beauty, but you know the drill. :p

amazing discovery

I was experiment with amp placement for the SS in the studio today and found that if I use the tilt back legs the reverb unit no longer produces feedback.
I'm glad to find I can turn it to 10 if I need to but now I'm trying to figure out why it works fine tilted. By the way tilted seem to produce a better sound than up on a stand.

I don't think it has anything to do with the acutronics spring which is mounted in a bag on the bottom of the cabinet since it produed this sound setting still with no vibrations. I'm wondering about a magnetic flow off a nearby component or heat but it seems like it would run cooler standing straight up. This amp puts out an incredible amount of heat I may look into mounting some type of computer case fan if it doesn't cause any interfernce. Then again maybe it could be something with the springs or some type of magnetic field in that area.
