I am looking for some honest opinions for this DEMO I just put together. Keep in mind, this DEMO took me under 1 hour to record and mix. From bedding the drum machine to adding the guitar, bass and vocals. Also the guitar solo is a little too HOT and will distort in very minor spots. (not too badly tho so don't get scared haha) Also it is a drum machine, so it can only swing so much, no time to make drum fills and cymbal hits.

here's the link

thanks, fella's and ladies if there are any here.

Dude if the recording is wrong--and you know it--what chance does the mix have to be any good????

My advice: re-record it correctly.

I was pointing out things I found wrong with the mix after it was done. I would like to know if anyone hears anything else. Example: maybe a guitar is too loud, maybe the bass is too quiet? blah blah blah. That is why I ask someone's opinion on the "MIX" not the performance. There is a difference. Maybe the mix is too bright or too muddy? Has nothing to do with re-recording anything.

Also I mentioned this was a DEMO, therefor again I will say I asked for opinion's on the mix, and mentioned the things I noticed that were wrong with it. So no one has to point out what I know now.

The mix sounds good man. As far as how loud certain things are, a lot times thats a preferance, mixing really is an art. The only thing I might have done was pan your guitars differently, your left channel seems a little empty even when the second guitar plays. But as far as clarity goes its good. But take others advice and take the time to record it right before u get too hard on yourself.

Panning is a good call. I will play around with that a bit more. I am making demo songs just to see what I can get with mixes, panning, ect. Of course when I want to get into a CD quality mix I will make sure the performance is the best it can be and that I actually use a guitar amp for the guitar tones rather than plug straight into a PC.

Demo Mix

I thought the overall mix was good. Personally I would've brought the bass and bass drum track up a little. I thought the lead was acceptable level since it should stand out a little above the mix.
