I am getting ready to order my second q10, and was wondering if

anybody out there is using two of these

and

with what type of computer

and

if there are any problems?

thanks,
larry

Gator, I would like to know how your two Q10's are working together...

I am still behind schedule on my construction, so I haven't got my second one yet, proably w/in the next few months.

Looked at the studio... looks great!

Let me know how it goes with the 2 Q10's. I just got into this and jumped with 2 feet, make that 2 Q-10's, at once.

I have yet to run it for more than 30 minutes without a lock up or a crash. I will be pulling a Q10 next week to see if it helps stability.

Great job on construction.

Jim

I've had my single Q10 for about 7 months with zero problems. I talked to tech support even before I bought mine to get specs for motherboard and chipsets. I do know they are very helpful, unlike some other manufacturers I heard stories about. Goos luck and let me know if you get both working.

BTW, what OS are you running, I'm using XP. Have you tried running it with 98 or 2000.

just a thought,

larry

XP right now, and I will change sound card hardware prior to OS's.

Jdier, have you performed the suggested tweeks at www.musicxp.net yet? I had some problems with my solo Q10 until I did those tweeks and disabled my soundblaster card.

I didn't remember you mentioning you were using XP before or I would have suggested it earlier.

Bass Master, Thanks for replying. I looked over everything at the site you recommended and I am set. Still having problems.

I have a new video card coming to make sure that my troubles are not caused by the Matrox Card.

Thanks.

I was thinking, what about a dual boot system with Win2000 and XP, I have in the past used 98 and 2000 as a dual boot with very good results.

BTW what chipset are you using, and what processor.

larry

Gator,

I have the 760 chipset with dual 2200 amd processors on an IWILL board with a G450 graphics card running XPPro.

I have reduced crashes by installing new driver from Aardvark and updating the G450 driver and turning off dual monitor support.

2 hours of tracking, one crash.

Write me off line with additional questions.

Jim

i've heard that in general Win 98 is much more crash resistant than the 2000. So if you still have you old copy and it'll support your needs you might want to try that.

To those who are interested the new 7.14 aardvark drivers seem to really help. I ran all weekend with only one glitch.

Jim,

I finally got my second Q10 about a month ago. I keep getting some digital noise intermittenly while recording. It would sound like it builds up over the length of the track. You couldn't tell until playback due to the hardware monitoring. Then I would delete the recorded tracks and rerecord and no noise. Still tryiong to figure it out.

Well, I've been on the phone with Ben and Adam at Aardvark. It probably is a sync issue between the two units.

I think when I pull up my Aard Control Panel the two are not syncing until I record something and then play it back. I've seen an issue with Nuendo before where you would get playback problems until you selected something other than 44.1 in the control panel and then select 44.1. A friend of mine that also has an Aardvark has seen this too.

I am going to update the drivers tonight, I'll let you know how it goes.

Larry

OK, updated the new drivers and got the same results. Tried something different this time also. I setup for software monitoring in Nuendo so I could monitor what was being recorded and I could hear the noise. I started messing with my buffer settings in the Aardvark Control Panel and could hear the computer adjusting itself, I also turned off the ASIO turbo and wouldn't ya know it, its fixed. hehe.

Tried to recreate everything and it looks like that was it.

Note if you are getting problems try the ASIO turbo off <unchecked> this seems to work for me. I'll update you if I have any more problems.

Update again,

Note: All adjustments made in the Aardvark Control Panel under Advance Settings.

I found on my system I have to keep my ASIO buffer setting above 640, to keep it noise free. (Observation: Nuendo seems to run better than Samplitude)

Tried with different Hardware buffer settings did not seem to make a difference. Does anyone know what this does?

FYI,
Here's my system specs:
Asus P4P800VM Motherboard
P4 2.0 G
1 G RAM (2100, I think)
No Video card, onboard.
No other cards installed on PCI bus.
No network or internet connections.
2 Aardvark Q10s

I sent Adam and Ben at Aardvark a link to this thread.

Oh, BTW Jim, I haven't had mine lock up at all. Just freeze for a few secs whils adjusting the buffer settings.

Is Hyperthreading enabled? If so, try turning it off. Not all code comprehends this, and it can be problematic.
