I have a question i'm new to this so bare with me. When should you put the reverd on your vocals? Okay this leads me to another question. Is there any suggestions about, The order you put Compressions, effects, reverbs, and delays? Which should i do first, second, third etc. I know just bare with me i'm trying to get the basics down.

Gentle compression between the mic and the computer or other recording device just to tame the levels and keep them relatively 'in the ballpark'.

Everything else is an as-needed mixdown thing. Delay, effects, reverd (sic) all go on during the mixdown when you have a handle where the vocal is going to sit in the mix and what you need to do to get it there.

on the one hand any order you want is ok ...you dont need permission.... that said from a historical standpoint the way it's been done is tone/dynamic/time related.... or EQ/comp/reverb-delay... although some people prefer the EQ after the comp as the comp tends to take out some freqs so they can then put some highs back in.... personally i think this is a sure sign your compressing way too much...YMMV

I prefer to record vocals dry (no 'verb) and flat (no eq). Depending on the singer, I might add a touch of light compression while tracking. But generally speaking I tweak during the mix.

Ok...I'm usually able to figure out abbreviations for things judging by their context, but what does YMMV stand for? I see it all the time and I have no clue.
