I need a Leslie, but I need it on my guitar, so it can't be a MIDI or VSTi that needs to be triggered by a keyboard.

Anything out there?

If not, what's the closest I can get? A phase shifter pedal?

Have you got guitar rig? If so, there are a few rotary effect presets that it has that do that beatles effect really well.

Yeah, I just saw a link to a thread on another forum where they were saying that. But I don't have guitar rig. The Mr. Donald thing that I linked to up above seems to be pretty good. I just have to get around to finding the right settings. Thanx Gek.

You can get a trial version of Guitar Pro. It won't save any pre-sets and kills itself after 30 minutes but if you can dial in your tone and just do it in one go, you're set.

Yeah, no. I don't know why companies do that. That alone would turn me off from buying it. Either let me try it or don't. But making stupid-ass noises every 30 seconds, or shutting down, etc...is just stupid. It's like going to a hooker and....ah, never mind. It's just stupid.

Also try this:

Rumpelrausch Täips - PLUGINS

The AZR3 is a free hammond simulator. It also comes with a VST rotary effect (Spinner), which can be used as an effect in its own right

Actually I have that. It was the first thing I tried. But when I called it up, I couldn't see how to use it with out MIDI. You sure you can use it as an effect on anything?

I'm working with the Mr. Donald that I posted the link to above and it's actually pretty good. I'm getting close to the sound I think I want.

I just loaded up a song in Reaper, added Spinner as an effect on a vocal track, and it works.

However, it does take a lot of fiddling to get that particular sound

You talking about this thing:

If that's it, can you give me a brief explanation of how you use that as an effect? I don't see "Spinner" or anything else. In the bottom right, I see a "Speaker" section. But either way, how do you use this as an effect on guitar or vocal? I can only play if I'm triggering it with a keyboard.

(and before anyone wastes their time, I know the box for that effect is un-checked in that picture. I'm well aware of that)

When you downloaded the AZR3, it should also have downloaded two effects that it uses. One is a valve pre-amp/over drive thingy, called 'VFX(Empty Square)', and the other is the leslie stuff, called 'Spinner (Empty Square)'. AZ3 drags these two in automatically when it is used, but they sit as separate VSTs. As separate VSTs you don't need AZ3 to use them. You can load them onto a track as an effect.

Ah, ok thanx. That explains it. I don't have those things. I'll go back and re-download it.

Man, hehe...I was going nuts trying to figure this out.

There are a set of open source VSTs called mda. They include a Leslie. I used it on a clav bit in a song once and it worked great for what I needed.

Confidentialité- France

Awesomeness!!! Got it, but I can't try it right now. My speakers are being used in the gym. Looks like a pretty straight-forward GUI. The Mr. Donald that I linked to above because the graphic shows an actual rotating Leslie speaker. But I'm going to try the MDA. Looks cool.

I assume you don't have PodFarm (the full version is not even close to free!) The rotary (they don't call it Leslie) effect in it is pretty good, but not real adjustable - much like the original powered cabinets, there's a fast/slow switch, then mix and tone knobs, and you can also choose speaker or speaker + horn. I can't remember ever using it on a guitar, but on an organ it sounds real good, just used it last night.

Thanx man. No, no Pod farm here. Between the 3 that have been posted in this thread so far, it's a toss up between the Mr. Donald and the MDA. Not that Gekko's SPinner isn't good, I just haven't got around to downloading it.

I'm not even sure if I'll use a Leslie effect at all. I'm covering a Beatles tune, but haven't decided how Beatlish I really want it to sound. I might not copy it that close.

Thanx guys.

Oh! Have you tried the Vibratone effect in the Fender Champ? The Vibratone is a Fender designed Leslie speaker. There is: Vibratone 1 - Rotating Baffle, Slow; and Vibratone 2 - Rotating Baffle, Fast.
