any experience with Boss DR-770 or Korg ER-1?

I can't comment on the Korg, but I absolutely love my DR-770. LOADS of memory, lots of user-defined kits and user-defined songs, extensive instrument editing capabilities as well as effeects for whole patterns/songs. Of course, for me the real kicker was the sound of the instruments. I wanted to be able to produce drum tracks that were as real-sounding as possilbe (that just fits what we're recording) and this really fit the bill.

I know there have been numerous threads that touched on the DR-770. I went into the search function and got about 50 threads using "boss AND dr-770" as my search string. I'm not sure what you'd find on the though. It's not because it's a bad unit, but I just haven't really paid attention to that model.

I'm thinking about purchasing one of the 770s. You mention putting effects on the patterns and songs but can an effect be put on a single drum sound?

Just for the record I only have good things to say about my trusty old 550, Roland's drum machines are very intuitive and easy to use. Good sounds. Not familiar with the Korg.
