I am looking for a mic preamp to get the sound to my computer with out having to add in a card, (USB or Digital Out). I really only have 200 to spend though. I was looking at a DBX but it is like 499. I also looked at the Midiman Audio Buddy, but I cannot find what kind of output it uses. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I read about the M-Audio one too and it sounds interesting. Do you know of anyone that has used the ART one before? Or know of any posts here that have mentioned it. Do you know whether the pre-amps of the M-audio are worthy?? I was looking for a review on the AudioBuddy but haven't really found any. Thanks for the advice.

I have a DMP2 preamp that the Duo's preamp is based on and its pretty awesome...good clean preamp.......

You could get the ART DIO converter for about 150.00 then you could get any of the less expensive pres you want...Just a idea..

yeah, i thought that out too...the Art for $160 and an audio buddy is $80 so you are still out 240.......the choice between the 2 would be what kind of preamp you want...i think the Art is capable of more than the Audio Buddy.......

True!...If he had a Minidisk of some type of dig recorder he could even use the dig outs of that in a pinch..For instance plug the pre into the analog ins of the recorder..then put the thing in pause rec. the the digital outs of the recorder become his converter....not the best but cheap!..Also decent Dat machine converters will be better than the DIO...however its 16 bit
