Any Audio Detectives? Mysterious iPad App Noise Issues

I noticed that I get a low amplitude high pitch hum/ringing sound from some music apps and not with others. I've figured out why some apps do and dont but not what causes the noise. The difference is that the apps that cause the noise have the ability to record external sounds. Loopy HD, Grain Science, and various other samplers. The apps that dont are analogue synths and other apps that do not have external recording capabilities (Borderlands app records internal sounds- not external and therefor has no issues). The sound is not white noise that is generated from mixers but a more digital ringing noise. I am using an Alesis multimix 4 going out into powered speakers. It is not a problem as far as normal levels but when the main output level on the mixer (independent of the channel gain-those can all be at zero) it becomes vey audible. I'm sure it has to do with the interaction of the mixer and the recording inputs of the apps. But not sure why and if their is a solution. Thanks.
