I just got ahold of some demo recording Anthrax made in thier studio, it is raw with no vocals and minimal guitars, and I have to say that Scott Ian is one of the best if not the best rythm guitar players ever. My favorite new band is Anthrax-Vocals. This stuff smokes.

Yes, he can play fast, and clean, and has some killer riffs....
Ed

Cheers to that...Anthrax absolutely rocks. I can never get sick of "Caught In A Mosh", "Antisocial", "Be All End All", "I'm The Man" and well...everything else they've ever done. One of my favorite bands.

I remember seeing them at the Aragon Brawl (Ball) Room...The whole main floor was one huge circling mosh pit. All of the chairs were ripped apart and thrown to the side...good thing that I was in the balcony. And we drank buckets of beer...that's how they sold them. Awesome concert. "Which one of these words, don't you understand...aw...caught in a mosh"

Didn't he also play in both M.O.D. and S.O.D. ?

S.O.D. Yes, but I guess they are not going to do that anymore. I guess there won't be any more "your dead" ballads for a while.

Best part about Anthrax is the way they treat there fans. My brother in law has been a huge fan of thiers for years, and they made him the street team leader. Now they put his name on every album, and he hangs out with them whenever they are playing close by, and sometimes they invite him to big shows in Chicago and stuff. Great guys.

Since there are some fans on the site here I just wanted to let you know that if you would like some stickers and posters and stuff e-mail this guy...Tad He can hook you up. Visit Anthrax's message board it is usually a riot.

Weird...Popped "Spreading The Disease" into the computer, and logged on the internet and the first thing I see on my homepage (This one), is an Anthrax thread. They ROCK!!! Got to see them on "Clash of the Titans" w/ Slayer and Megadeth (Back when all 3 bands still kicked ass). Anywho, not such a big fan of newer Anthrax. John Bush is cool and all, but I liked him better in Armored Saint. Joey Belladonna was a RIOT. Scott Ian is awesome (and so is Danny Spitz).

David Katauskas, The singer for S.O.D. was Billy Milano (Frontman for M.O.D.)

Your getting your wish because they are going backwards with their vocalists. John is not on the latest stuff I think. I am not totally sure. All I know is I have a demo they recorded before they went and tracked the last studio album, and there is no vocals and I think they are the best metal band. Charlie, and Ian can rock rythms together.

Among the Living, Master of Puppets, Peace Sells but who's buying, Fabulous Disaster, Under the Influence, and Reign in Blood all came out the same year and ruled my little high school existance.

I think it is funny when scott is on VH1 all the time talking about diffrent things, like the 80's, 90's and metal. Cracks me up.

What I want to know is the exact day VH1 decided to have shows about metal, and MTV decided to never ever play a video that has guitars in it. I think a pig flew that day, and they were passing out free ice water in hell.

I only know one Anthrax song, the one with Public Enemy, Bring the Noise. I have to say, the guitar tone on that track is f*ng horrible! Most undefined, overly distorted bunch of treble I've ever heard on the radio.

It was the day that my generation hit 30. Once we weren't in the demographic, they stopped having to cater to us.

I like Ian's guitar sounds. He was best buds with Dimebag, and Dimebag helped get most of his tones.

I absolutely worshipped Anthrax in highschool and now I'm finally getting a chance to see them (original line up) October 18 with Judas Priest (also original line up) . I'm going to lose my frickin mind!!!!!!!1

Not the original line-up, but the classic line-up (originally Dan Lilker (of Nuclear Assault, who have a new album out too...) played bass, not Franky Bello.

Just for the record, I just got back from the Oct 18 show and it was the single most amazing concert I've ever seen. I can't believe Anthrax was the opening band but they rocked out as hard as ever! Judas Priest played like they never broke up and I swear Rob Halford's voice is even better.
I just had to post this!! :D

E-mail this guy tad@anthrax.com (my brother-in-law), and see about getting on the street team, and then he can hook you up with guest list at shows. If you are in to that sort of thing...lol

Heh...I saw them on that Clash Of The Titans tour as well. Alice In Chains was also on that bill.

I dug Anthrax a good bit when I was in Middle School and early High School...back when metal was still good, then I started getting into college radio and the bands that were fixtures on that end of the dial (The Smiths, The Cure, R.E.M., The Sex Pistols, Bad Brains, Joy Division, Gang of Four, etc.). Funny to end up learning that Charlie Benante (their drummer...and who, apparently, comes up with a lot of their riffs) is a HUGE fan of The Smiths.

But yeah, Scott Ian is definitely one of the best rhythm guitarists out there.
