Antares AMM-1 Microphone Modeler ?

Think about it - if you're using a Radio Shack dynamic, it's never going to sound like a Neumann. What it can do is take a fairly accurate but neutral mic (say, an Earthworks) and add some coloration that gives it some character. Any resemblance to any specific mic model (say, by trying to mimic the typical frequency response) will be hit or miss at best. Think of the AMM-1 as a fairly subtle 'color' control. Now, how much is that worth to you?

The plug-in version of the mic modeler is fun as hell to mess around with. If only I had a couple hundred bucks to blow on something to mess around with!

I've used it quite a bit. It wont' turn a 57 into a Neumann, but the results are still good and usable. Consider it a POD for the microphone. Not authentic, but if it sounds good, who cares! I like the C414 and Earthworks for my acoustic guitar. Vocal wise, I've only done female vocals with it, but the results were pretty good.
