Howdy... made another (3/4) of a song today. This one was rushed more than the last, so im not quite as happy, but yeh....

Im interested to know how it sounds thru your speakers. I used a tape compression plugin which i quite like. To my ears it is obviously a VERY compressed mixed, but at least thru my headphones it is quite pleasant (a very thick mix, quite noisy, but warm). I do notice the slight crackle at the very end..oh well..

what are your thoughts on the song?

peace out!:drunk:

hey

sounds great my friend, perhaps a "little" too much on the plug but back it off slightly and its sounding really nice - has a certain jeff buckley feel to the song too which is no bad thing!

i absolutely love it...compression and all....

the only two things i'd point out are...

the delay,,,not being with tempo is a little much for me at the start,,,,,but i understand, if you start making the delay fit in time, it's just gona sound like U2, so,,,,,fair play..its your preference..

the other thing is,,,,,i'd keep all your compression the way it is. it's cool as an effect here,,,,BUT the drums don't sound through it, to me.
can try to make the kick sound more natural/less compressed.
maybe bus everything except it to your plug? rather than plugging the master (if that's what you did?)

i think the kick's distorting a bit which bugs me..

its not XLN addictive drums is it?

A very audible pop at :04. Acoustic guitars in the intro sound pretty nice.

I assume the faux tape compression thing happens about :20? To my ear it just sounds grainy, a bit harsh, and rather digital.

Vocals are pretty pitchy. They can get buried in spots.

What was that background sound at 1:34? Probably on the vocal track. Very audible. Again a few seconds later - on the same syllable. More times after that.

Again, bravo. The delay at the start is great, a tad too loud to my taste. I definitely hear Jeff Buckley in the voice. Second time you've made something I really like a lot. Keep going man, you could really shine. Sorry for not having usable mixing comments, I just can't listen to it that way once it starts. Excellent stuff.

thx everyone, comments much appreciated as always

Yes i think the drums are a little too compressed. This is because I sent them through a compressor, and then compressed the master as well. too much!

Addictive drums it is, well spotted. I love that vst.

Yeh i listened to the song on my laptop speakers (I find that is a good way to "remove" yourself from the song) and suddenly i realised it is pitchy as #$%@. So Ill have to redo the vocals. Or learn how to sing!

Yep, background noise... well spotted. :o

Thanks singlespeak, yeh delay probably is a bit overboard i just got carried away!
