+1000 to that "wrooow"! What is that? Really dood, I think you are on to something very eerie and cool here. I had to listen again. I don't even do that for music in my typical genre. I say go with more like this and I'll buy it.

i think yir nuts

which vroom bit?

the one after every eight or so bars is just one note played with a distortion and auto pan on it

the breakdown is three different tracks

the basic trick is to apply an LFO to the cut off on the synths filter, set the oscillators to saw with different pitches, then automate the LFO...so each modulation is going wub wub wub...add distortion, saturation etc etc whatever, then I just cut them up and pan them differently

its takes a little bit of work but thats the geek part...

Its a common genre though Jimmy, I havent really stumbled on anything...its been around in London for around 10 years or so in some shape or form

Love the reverb on the drums. Some of it gave me a little Aphex Twin vibe (more the mood than any particular sound or beat - I don;t think it "sounds" like AT)

Cool song man.

thanks man...i wish i could make videos...id have evil clowns following people home in the shadows to murder them...lol, happy cvnt that I am :D

Then you sir are my favorite geek. I myself have many geekish qualities, but none of the creativity that made Shadows.

Look forward to hearing more man.

I think it's older than that. The Clash played around with it back in like 1980, and they had to get it from somewhere.

ah yeah...i meant the electro thing...dubs been around way before that...must be the early 70s or something I reckon

i think the Clash were the only white band to do something decent with it

I think it's a really good sounding track...a floor for a short film featuring robots and evil clowns...or something. But there's not much 'poetry' in it that I can find.

As I was listening, I commented to myself that, since you took this tack, that you're now letting the technology drive the composition and creativity...rather than the other way around. I couldn't connect with the piece on an emotional level.

Love the sounds you can make, the space and transparency of the recording...and a lot of your stuff has really kicked me. But not this one. Sorry.

But it is a very attractive piece for a production...where it isn't the star of the show, IMHO.....that is, it has one of the three elements that make music: rythm. Melody is sparse, and repetitive to a fault; and it's mono-harmonic.....moves in a tight circle by itself...y'know?

Always a 'Debbie Downer' to bring it all into perspective. I played with a guitar player who always said "what are you trying to say here?". Even though he was right, I wrote him off as a whiney bitch. In the end I feel it takes someone introducing an idea in a manner that creates enthusiasm in another's heart. This is where creativity can expand into other realms. I feel this in kcearl's latest.

I could just be a dickhead though.......

no debbie downer at all :)

it is what it is...... within this genre ive heard some sound more melody driven, Ive heard some sound like different fart noises being panned across a room...Im no pro

Im glad you could appreciate the production, that and comments on the mix is really what I look for in here....... anything else is really a pleasant bonus

Thanks Jeff

and you dont come across as a dickhead Jimmy though your guitar player seems a whiney bitch! lol

Dude, I gotta tell a story about that guy.

One time, we were all working out a part (me drumming, a bass player, and the 'whiner'). The bass player and I were doing our thing and suddenly we notice this look from the guitar player. Bass player says "what is your problem?". Whiney says, "have you guys not noticed I haven't even been playing for five minutes?". Bass player says "well then play something, and quit throwing a temper tantrum!". Mr Whiney says (as he stomps his foot in tempo), "I'm not throwing a temper tantrum!". We just lost it, rolling on the floor laughing as there was a man stomping, having a conniption fit just as a toddler does when momma takes away the teat.

He was replaced the next day. Though I have used his sweet advice when trying to find what my emotions are saying to me........:)

Im not a band person at all....not that Im anti scoial, well maybe a little...I just couldnt be arsed with folks going in the cream puff..plus not everyone has your level of seriousness or lack off...guaranteed to piss folks off

saying that I wish I could play drums and was a bit better at guitar ;)

The funny thing is, the seriousness of the situation was: we were rehearsing disco cover tunes for a local DJ (who sounded similar to Wolfman Jack) for basically a parody band to promote his radio show. "If you want my money and you think I'm sexy" had no street cred whatsoever. The seriousness was not to be lame at being silly. The emotional outburst of whiney guy was just out of place for the moment. I have learned much from his approach to music since those silly days. I just felt the story was funny.

Anyway, I have now officially and inappropriately, jacked your thread. Sorry man. I repent now.........

Really neat tune kcearl :P.. liked it alot. I'm sure I didn't get the real thing though with these crap speakers at work O.o can't wait to give it a listen when I get home. But, very interesting stuff man.. Certainly not my norm at all, but I can honestly say that I very much got into that mix man. Cool, cool stuff. Want to hear more from ya.

Listening at something other than a laptop - (well my PC with Sennheiser phones), you're right - no lack of bass.
levels are good. The guitars do really tether this to TuTone in a good way & the brief quotation of of Ghost town in the low synth too.
I like it all.
I think you should look to Shoenberg's Pierrot Lunair for your next inspiration - I'd love to hear Tone Poems with a staggering rhythmic base.
On the band theme - I always got into strife for trying to enjoy myself, or for not being committed (ie: preferring not to jeapodize my day job for a gig at a wedding). enough. As a result I semed to pass through bands though was sacked once because the "band leader" insisted the drummer shave off his beard or be sacked & I told him it was an inappropriate thing to require (I mean, if it'd been about the fellow's drumming it'd have been fair enough). So I was sacked for showing solidarity with the beardy - another member, (& still good friend) quit in protest but joined again soon after.
Oh, & I want no synthetics in the Dub - it has to be Rubber!
Back again - GOOD track Jack.
Now for the take away curry & the tube home to the missus at midnight - Oh, Wellup did that already!
Oh, & no non anologue synthetics in the Dub. It HAS to be RUBBER!

I gotta ditto Jeff's comments on this buddy ;). I really liked that snare sound in there. And, as usual, your unique and varied sounds are as pleasant as they are unexpected. But, alas, I could not practice my latest shuffle moves, so I was bummed :(.
:):D:cool:
