So I've got my mixer/soundcard/speakers setup exactly as shown here:

Everything is the same (same mixer, no keyboard, no drum machine) except substitute my M-Audio Delta 66 for the 2496 shown.
I am getting good mic levels in my phones and in my Delta 66 hardware monitor and everything looks okay until I try recording in Magix Samplitude.
It records the mic just fine...but also records the track playback and everything else in the world too (windows default sounds etc.). I have a feeling that the soundcard is sending audio back to the mixer and then the mixer is sending the playback back to the inputs on the soundcard again. How can I avoid doing this but still keep my mixer in the chain so that I can monitor with headphones?
ugh..
