You know how you can listen to an original song by a popular artist, and it may not be one of their hits, but it grows on you. And often times the song will spark your interest for reasons personal to you? Well this is one of those songs that I like, but not a song many would really enjoy, and its a bit depressing. I don't know exactly why, but I seem to gravitate toward these types of ballads. This one was written by Gordon Lightfoot, it is repetitious, but I like listening to his version. Mentally, I project into the song some of the background vocals and instrumentals that are not included here in this recording, but here it is.

Recording chain is as follows:

(Vocals)Peluso 2247 mic --> Avalon AD2022 --> E-MU sound card --> Sonar 4
(Guitar)AT4033 mic --> same as above

Circle of Steel

Nice tune. Sounds very clean to me. Not much else to say, as it sounds good.
Ed

The guitar sounds great. I love 4033s on acoustics.

I like the song. Very pretty tone on the guitar.

Unusual thing about the sound to me is that the vocal sounds close and the guitar sounds 6 ft away. Were they tracked together?

Tim

Hi Tim, Yes they were tracked together, the guitar was about 8 to 12 inches from the mic. I guess i needed to up the volume of the guitar?

Very soothing sound. Very nice guitar tone with a single mic. I have to say that I've never heard of Gordon Lightfoot, but that's some nice song writing.

YIKES!! You're making me feel old.
He had some hits, oh, 400 years ago. "If You Could Read My Mind", "Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" to name but a few.
