I'm gonna have to call this guy since he right around the corner from me.

not me.. I havent sent him anything yet..

I get emails passed to me from Mr. Cirocco a producer in ATL and the publiser of "The Music Powers that Be.." http://www.musicpowers.com ..and He told me Awhile back he is legit..he's a good friend of his.

My manager called. I recommend with sending mp3s, also send a CD in the mail with all your company info... You know emailing can get lost...

Question for the business OGs and they managers:

By 'licensing for the songs', do they mean sample clearance?

By licensing they get the right to use it. You still own the beat. It's like when MTV licenses a beat. You get paid each time it's played. You get paid off of plays, performances and sales. Sample clearance is also done by the publisher... I never got a sample clearance though.

yep..Beats answered your question..beat me to it..LOL

So, if I submitted something that used samples, they'd pay the clearance?

if you have it stated in the agreement that they will clear the samples used in your beat..they will ..

It is essential that you clear the use of any sample that you have included in a recording that you wish to release. You'll need to agree how mechanical and other royalties will be split between you and the other writer.

this is why its best to get the labels to do it..

Nice BK... I definetly think I got some stuff for the MOE P's... Good looks...

Rat Man

Ya, the publishing company normally would clear samples. Also, say you got a track on Universal and used a old sample of a song that was published by a label that is now owned by Universal, they already cleared that! :D Man, Universal almost owns everything anyway... ;)

I heard that they at first they didn't clear that "Breath" by Fabolous! So they had to play everything and get a singer to sing just lke the sample used. Then filter it to make it sound the same. They had to pay the band they sampled all the royalties. Damn! You can find the original version. It sounds a little different. I like to new version...

Dang! If only i had gotten a manager, lawyer, and copyrighted a couple of beats. By the time i do that the oppourtunity will be gone!

^^ you can contact him through his email or just give him a call

I really appreciate that man. Who knows what could come from this oppourtunity. I think i like homerecording.com more and more everyday. Thanks!!
