Another one to examine for me

Ooops...

The excellent solo at the end is Gorty... the awesome drums are GregL. Everything else you can blame on me... ;)

I just previewed the song. The mp3 encoding ruined it. I am going to have to reload it.

Now let's see what happens...

I like this one! Good job mixing all the collaborative parts together. If I remember, I had a nit about the acoustic on your last one--but this acoustic sounds really good. Something about the electric sounds a bit funny though--is there chorus on it? I'm hearing something that I can't quite put my finger on.

You're harmonies are just awesome. Is that all you doing multiple takes, or are you "retuning" the lead take? You've got a real knack for adding just the right amount of extra voices (and at the right times) to create real texture--if I could do harmonies like that, they'd be throughout the whole song and it would lose the impact!

Last but not least, the song itself. Did you write it? It's familiar to me--have you posted a version before or is it just reminding me of something? But I love the point of the song!

Greg--as always, the drums sound great. Someday I want to learn more about your recording approach.

Gorty--nice licks man!

There is a splash of chorus on the electric guitars just to get them to stand out. But I think I have the faders up a bit too much...

The harmony vocals are all me. Every painful take... it's funny, I can't sing lead to save my life, but I can do harmony vocals. There are 9 takes on each side of the stereo spectrum because of the round at the end of the chorus... whew!

I did write this song, almost 6 years ago for the men's fellowship at my church. I've played it live but never got it recorded properly until now. I posted it once about a year ago, but it had more issues than a few, so I retracked and learned to mix a bit better.

Thanks for the listen, and yeah, all my good stuff is a collaberation...

My only gripe would be what I thought first was dodgy guitar intonation but seems to be the chorus effect.

Hey Rokket, sounds pretty good dude, but I think the drum tracks are lagging a little. Just a hair. Nudge em all forward a few ms.

Nicely collabbed (sp?) fellows. The bass and drums really worked well together. BG vocals were another highlight. Good job all through guys.

Awww...I can't play this one...:(.

Instead of soundclick...it opens up my media player and tells me that one or more codecs can't be found...maybe I need to update something...rats.

It did that same thing to me yesterday. I think it's an error on their site. It works fine for me now and I did nothing.

I had the same problem on Rokket's other tune last night. Working on this one first time though....

- I like the songwriting/lyrics in this Rokket; very inspirational.
- that chorus guitar does seem slightly wobbly.:)
- drums sound good Greg_L, they seem to lag a bit in spots to me (nudge nudge wink wink).
- that guitar solo at the end sounds great (playing/tone) I might add a db or so but then, I'm a guitar player ;)
- Mix sounds good overall, no nits for me....:D:cool::D

So then who played the awful drums? :D just kidding!

Sounds pretty good. As I've mentioned before, you've got a pretty unique voice, but it sounds pretty cool.

Interesting harmonies and chorus effects on the vox too.

Thanks. Yeah the drums aren't lined up perfectly. This same thing happened with some drums I did for RayC and Rory. It must be something getting lost in the translation or something. I export them from the same spot and from the very beginning of the music tracks sent to me, but something in my export process/online transfer shaves a few ms off the front. They just need to be bumped forward a little. I promise they're in time! :D

I'll fix that and repost. It might be the different software interpretations too. Or it could be the interface. I record onto an MR-8, and I know that certain pc interfaces have latency issues...

:Ok, I was able to connect to it this time...

Sounding pretty good. The timing is definitely kinda squirrely right now, but you've all discussed that already. I too am liking the background vox on this. Nice job.

I actually prefer the electric sound to that of the acoustic, which sounds overly bright and thin for my tastes, but probably just a preference thing for me. Pretty well balanced mix. See if you can line up the drums and repost :).

Certainly an improvement! Now it sounds like Greg actually knows what he's doing :D. Solo is much better at this level.

Thank you! The drums are what brings this song to life. It was pretty soulless before.
