Hello again all,

I'm using LE, and I'm trying to use two instances of the same VST on two different tracks, but with a different setting for each track. The specific VST that I'm using is the classic reverb from Kjerhaus Audio.

Anyway, I want one setting for my snare, but a different setting for my vocal. When I adjust the reverb in one track, the instance within the other track is affected. This sucks.

I tried to use the Cubase "reverb b" as a substitute, but it is entirely unacceptable. Is there a way around this or is this one of the ways that they get you to upgrade?

You can just call up another FX send channel and select a new instance of the reverb (rename it to avoid confusion) or just use one as an insert effect.

That's what I actually did, and when I used the new instance, adjustments still affected the 1st instance. Does renaming it help cubase not get confused? I know that it was a different instance because it was residing in a different send channel than the 1st instance.

I'll try again with renaming. The insert option is doable, I guess except you can't change the level on the fly like with the sends (the level is only controllable from the reverb panel itself).

Thanks for the comeback,

JD

P.S. Where in NY do you live? I grew up in the West Village.

I'm not sure how LE runs things, but on the SX versions, you go to the effects tab (F4), add a new effects bus, and select a new instance of the reverb in the pull down menu. Usually Cubase renames this for you "Classic Reverb2".

The you go back to your audio track, hit the "e" button and call up ClassicReverb2 in the send channel.

If that's how you are doing it then it should be completely separate.

I'll try exactly what you say - perhaps it is an LE thing. We'll find out after work (darned day jobs)..
