This mic company claims to be about to shake things up in the recording industry (don't they all)! They say they are not an OEM product, and designed (not sure about manufacture) in the UK! The price is not 'low end', but in the middle area, so may be they are 'legit'??

They look very cool!!! There is also a non tube version on Ebay as well as a cheaper non-tuce condenser.

They look pretty cool, at least.

Like the pic of the blonde chick singer.

I'm surprised maudio hadn't trademarked that one - solaris, luna, helios

The design reminds me a bit of these:

http://www.thomann.de/index.html?partner_id=97926&page=thoiw6_the_tbone_retro_special_prodinfo.html

which incidentally come with a 1.07" diapragm and a wooden case

I love the use of quotes "The HELIOS is a triumph of design" (says who?)

If I was going to throw away some money on a dodgy unheard of mic I'd go for the thomann retro tube which at £171 is a good deal less than half the price and comes with a no questions asked return policy.

The basic STC-1 is £89 at Dolphin. That's pretty cheap, so there must be some element of Chinese involvement at the manufacturing level.

Either that or the Germans are overpaid :p :D

The tooling of the STC-1 is almost identical to the SC100 II mics mentioned just below suggeting the same chinese origin

Hmm

Attack of the Clones!!!

I saw these mics at Sounds Expo and went over to look because at first glance from a distance they did indeed look like the M-Audio ones. None up to listen to though ... so they can't be too confident in them ...
