What are your thoughts on these mics? I've done extensive research, but I need some more help here. My budget would be around $325 tops...unless you can convince me, that for a little bit more money, you can get a LOT more mic.

No Blue Baby Bottles please, as they cost over $700 in Holland.
 
Well I heard my C1 for the first time yesterday while A/Bing preamps at my music store and all I can say is... DAMN! That sounds like a 1000$ mic!

Just my two cents...

Really liked what I heard. Made my vocals sound really warm and nice.

the c1 is $230. the c3 is $350, and it sounds pretty damn good. i compared mine to an akg c3000, which is priced in the same range, and the c3 is miles above it.

At-4033

Yeah, I pretty much hoped this,
1) because I can get it pretty cheap, or do you think that $290 for this mic + shockmount, 5m XLR-cable is NOT a steal?
2) I can't A/B it with the C1, and the C3 is ridicoulously expensive in Holland, over $650....
3)This mic seems to have build quite a rep since '91...
4)I think the C1 and the Nt1000 still have to prove themselves over time...

Lemme know what you guys think, and more votes are still VERY MUCH welcome, as well as more opinions (valid ones, please ;) )

Sounds like the price you can get for the 4033 is better than anything I've seen advertised.

What is your intended application for your new mic?

Vocals, electric guitar cabs, acoustic guitar later on, and in the future maybe drums.
Musical styles: surf/(hard-)rock/metal(80's speed/thrash)
 
4033 - I got a great package deal in the UK for the mic, a cable, shockmount, pop filter and boom stand for £229 - about $310. When you're in Europe some of the mic's people talk about as being steals in the US, become not much of one over here! :)
 
my choices

vocal and large diaphragm, AT4050
instrument and some vocal Royer 121
 
of those in the list - the AT.
It will still sound the same in 2o years
 
For those uses you should not be disappointed with the 4033. It's fairly flexible, and sounds like a best buy for the prices you can get.

I just started using the NT1000. It sounds really great. Also, Rhode has this deal on (or did in December) where if you don't think this mic sounds as good as one the really expensive Neumann mics, they'll let you return the NT1000 and they'll buy you the Neumann. That's a solid gaurantee if I ever heard one.

After hearing the m147 I understood why so many pro hate it.
