I believe he was refering to the age of this thread. The last entry before yours was over two years ago. :p
 
Of those mics, I've used everything but the CAD, and liked all of them for one purpose or another. Out of the bunch, I think the 4033 would be the best choice. It's not entirely neutral, but does the job on nearly anything, whereas the Rode can be hit or miss.

I definitely recommend the Baby Bottle, by the way. Just because I KNOW no one who was involved at the beginning is reading this thread anymore. :D

Germany aint no cheaper.

Ive been living here for four years, and really the prices are steep too. The only benefit that I can get(because I am a US Servicemember) is the exemption from VAT taxes, which saves me a lot of money on mics, but German Citizens pay the same as Americans, heck more even. I know of one place in the US that can get prices that will beat the German retailers on German Mics. Thats all kinds of messed up. I do like not having to pay vat taxes, ive gotten a couple pairs of MGs that way , saved myself 200 bucks.
Ive never seen good mics in flea markets, or mics at all actually. Ebay it or someplace like vintageking for the good stuff.

This thread is 3 1/2 years old. Interesting about the voting from that era. The CAD M179 was a rather unknown mic back then. I would suspect that a new poll today would have different results, plus need to have the ADK Hamburg and/or Vienna on the voting list.
