Similar situation as Phutur...
I started about a year ago, but was very ignorant of what to get and not get and it seems that my biggest mistakes were in the headphones - unreliable for mixing - and neglecting the importance of monitors.
I'm using a Zoom 8 track with built-in cd burner.
Things were sounding fine through the headphones, in the stereo, I gave out demo samples to friends who apparently had no problems.
Yet, I took a cd to a couple bars with large rooms and the first concerns were revealed: the lows were too soft.
I thought it would be an easy adjustment, so I came back, and just boosted things a bit, burned another test cd, took it to one of the rooms again, but this time the lows were way too much.
I've ordered some budget speakers to monitor with - not near what I should have done, which will be the first thing when I have some cash, but maybe they will be something, although, again, there may be no real representation of the lows...
I guess what I'm really curious about, is if anyone has produced acceptable results using a Zoom mrs802...
The reference cds I use appeal to me because of their clarity and dynamics rather than loudness.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
