The drum room sound.
Absolutely incredible. For many years I've been a bass player playing in various outfits with numerous drummers and have spent many hours in recording studios trying to get the drums to sound right. Using different mics and pre amps we have always ended up with a satisfactory result, Now that a purposely designed drum booth has been built I can understand why so much time was wasted on setting up different mics. If the room isn't right to start with the natural sound wont be there , so its a matter of compensating for the poor acoustics of the room.
Yesterday we used a over head condensor mic and recorded the drums and found we had crisp, clean beautifuly balanced sound.
The drum room has 16 line imputs, after yesterdays results I think I over spent.

All the very best

Well, the update looks fantastic!
I'm curious about the choice of corragated tin for the resonators/diffusors though. It would seem that that hard metal surface would tend to give the room an un-natural brightness.
It looks great! Kind of an Atr Deco feel! I love it!

Hi Michael,

The resonators/diffusors are situated on the side walls of the drum booth. They have been made from timbers over 100 years old and are of different widths, sizes, lenghts and spaced apart at irregular intervals

John and myself spent alot of time working out if the corrugated iron would work. John came up with the idea it would so we went with it. I'm glad to say it works fantastic.

Wait till you see what John has done with the control room-- SENSATIONAL. It will probably appear on the next update

All the best
Kev:)
