Taming the World--for now
Hey all. I have been locked up (Of my own accord.) in a cabin for the last two and a half months. Strange stuff is beginning to show up on my writing pads and monitors. In two weeks I will officially move back to civilization and return to the studio. In the meantime, here is another set of lyrics to have a constructive go at. Once again, it is very different from my past creations. Dave

Another Day (In Paradise)
c. Dave Morehouse 2010

The sunrise in the trees, the frost on the ground,
And diamonds in the underbrush cast sparkles all around.
To walk and know God in His beauty profound
Is the perfect beginning today.

What more could I do to top this fresh start?
My breath on His canvas is time honored art.
He walks always with me. We’re never apart.
It’s a debt I could never repay.

And the ravens cry “Alleluia”
In their own special mocking way
And the woods world stops to listen
While the sun breaks us closer to day.
And my heart soars with elation
To a chickadee practiced ballet.
Heaven’s not just yet upon me
But this will do ‘til my Judgment Day.

The sun sets with abandon behind the maple trees
Casting pinks, blues, and purples across an airy sea.
The shadows try hiding until tomorrow in dreams
And the end of the day seems sublime.

As the indigos darken and the chickadees sleep
So closely together they can’t share a peep.
Nighttime brings rise from the woods dark and deep
An owl who should be a mime.

And the owl will screech “Alleluia”
In his own special mocking way
And the woods world stops to listen
While the moon puts its mark on the day.
And my heart soars with elation
As the world tries to meet me halfway.
Heaven’s not quite yet upon me
But this will do ‘til my Judgment Day.

No, Heaven’s not quite yet upon me
But I can wait ‘til the Judgment Day.

Welcome back, Dave!

Things are much quieter in the forum these days. I am immersed in my work most of the time, so I don't have much time to spend here at present, and I'm sure the others are equally busy.

Regarding your lyrics, I like them. :) They seem to have a folksy, gospel music quality.

For me, your lyrics paint a nice picture that serves as a reminder of the rural countryside that I grew up in and would love to permanently return to someday. I can imagine Andy Griffith singing your lyrics in Mayberry with only his six-string guitar as the accompaniment! Good stuff! :)

Yes I see that the response times are much longer than before. Thanks for the return welcome. I will drop in when I get time. I have written lots in the last seven months but most of it has been outside of music. I am looking forward to rolling tape again in the near future. More later, Dave.
