Sounds good, but the vocal mix cold do with some more work.
They stand out too much, and dont sit nicely in the mix.

Great song choice! You got it right down to what in the original song is Paul's foot tap. :D

There is however real noticeable auto tune things going on and at the 50 second mark, it bends the vocal so much, it scared me

Other than that....nice job. ;)

Yeah the vocal is way out on top. I recorded it to the guitar, not with.

What do you mean by the 'auto tune' thing?

thanks for the comments

What I mean by the auto tune thing is, it sound like there is some effect attempting to "tune" the vocals to stay in key. At 0.50 seconds (or there about), the vocal bends way up; this is usually caused when a device, like the Antares Auto Tune, has to significantly correct the source material.

I'd say it's just me trying to stay in tune then, because the only effect on the vocal was a bit of reverb I think. Anyway, that's an interesting point.

Paul McCartney's vocal is tough for just about anyone to cover! It turned out well enough-I was half way expecting the song "Piggies" to start next-just like on the "White Album" ;)

Very nice Mr Allen - no nits - love the doubling and the reverb......

:) :D :) :D

Good version, Monkey!

I did an instrumental version of same song last month, take a look if you can.

Well, Your acoustic playing is very similar to Paul´s, very well played and clean.
I like your voice, doubling vocals works (are overdubing vocals, no a chorus effect, I´m supposing). Seems a little "jumping out" of mix to my taste, maybe less 1 or 2 dbs can help...

You have some (strong) ambient noises on recording, take a look, a "de noiser" like Waves X noise (individual tracks) can helps a lot.

(and, sorry about your "bird singing")...it really sounds like a "roland bird kinda", you know...) :)

General: Great job !

(And, hey, you ARE a singer...)

Yeah, I know what you mean by Roland bird...it's a lot cheesy, but came from a sfx disc as far as I know. 1 or 2db for sure. Wish I still had the tracks to tweak. I've heard good things about the denoisers!

Ciro that's a gorgeous version of Blackbird, nice work :)

I think the vocal performance and instrument playing are faultless but I would do without the reverb. It doesn't sound good. Dry would be an improvement with perhaps a remix, some EQ'ing and taking the vocal down a bit. Overall a very nice cover.

Btw, what type of tape machine are you using ? Just curious ... ;)

I did this with Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 2, Wavelab 4, an SBLive and a basic mic. Listening to it again, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of slight delay on at least some of the vocal, as well as the reverb.

I regret not saving the audio data...so I can't do anything about the over reverby vocals. I could always do it again one day. But I wanna do other stuff!
