Very nice mix. Well balanced.
I thought it was a bit weird that the backing vocal was a lot more prominent in the left speaker. It was almost non-existant in the right speaker.

Standup bass sounds good. It is a really good song and I love your sense of self worth!
Well done!

Second the comment on the BVs being lopsided... would work if there was nothing on the other side, perhaps, but there is.

Pro tip... humble is good.

Though it is not a word I tend to use, the description of "lovely' keeps popping into my head as I listen to the vocal melodies here.

I have to ask though, what is up with the thread title? Is this tongue-in-cheek or what? We are all very much invested and tied to our own work far more than others will tend to be, but it is usually up to others to ascribe that sort of description to a piece.

The production overall sounds quite good here.

The vocals get just a touch harsh after the 3:08 mark and the vocal dynamics get a little unruly. Despite that, I appreciate the passion in the delivery.

Other than that, for all the subjective choices you made, I can't find too much to nitpick. It is a well done production.

Thanks Yall for the feedback and for taking the time to listen. I really appreciate it!
Armistice, Schwarz....
I will have to go back and assess the backing vocals and decide how to pan or balance them. There are two tracks there somewhere...

I thought the AMAZINGLY SAD comment in my OP would tip you off on the thread title. Anyway, what kind of asshole walks into a room and proclaims his songs are amazing? :) And that pesky vowel got away somehow. I can't type and look at the screen at the same time so ya kinda get what ya get there...

Kindafishy...
Thanks so much for the compliment. And I totally agree with your comments on the issues with the vocal performance at the end of the song. I have finally embraced the idea of letting real things stay. I think the overall product can be more impactful that way.

I made this with Garageband.

Great vocal sound. During the lead guitar part there's a 3rd guitar coming in faintly on the right side which doesn't add anything but distraction - there's a couple of pick-type noises or something.
At the end the extra guitar that comes in on the left is a little loud, maybe because it's not balanced with the 3rd guitar on the right.

Thanks Mjphotos. That third guitar has been bugging me also...thanks

Overall it was very good.

Thought I heard a pop just before the vocal came in. But with that player, I couldn't back it up to verify that. Thought I heard another one later on. Might be on the vocal track. You might be able to mute them.

Instruments sound good. I thought the bass was a bit too heavy in the low end. Just a little rumbly for me. I'd like a tighter sound for a tune like this.

THanks. Yes those are the sound of my mouth opening...

Amazing and awesome have so much currency that they've almost no meaning.
Amazingly sad - it's really hard what you were trying to say in your post & irony doesn't translate well - even with ironycentric emotiocons.
Nicely played/performed track.
Sensitive arrangement and light touches abound and this mix is getting there. Follow the suggestions above.
The lyrics sound good but don't say much but that may be the point - it usually is.
I look forward to hearing the next step.

Awesome. love the balance of the vocal and the instruments. Also great vocal tone, and control.

Thought I heard a pop just before the vocal came in. But with that player, I couldn't back it up to verify that.
I heard the same pop. The rewind did work for me, so I was able to verify. I'm not sure if it's a lip smack or a clip though.

I was actually a little disappointed. I was hoping with a title like this it would either actually be something revolutionary and game-changing or somebody who completely lacked self awareness. A pretty-solid implementation of a genre I'm not really into wasn't what I was hoping for?

I'd be inclined to keep the slightly distorted guitar and actually make it more prominent, but then - I would also be inclined to encourage you to "rock out" more, which I suspect is not what you're going for.

Thanks for the feedback...Lol Steve..sorry to disappoint. This set of songs are meant to be sad and sappy, yes. There is some rocking out that happens around here too. Ill post some of that sometime also.
I spent some time on the mix yesterday using your feedback. I was able to edit out one or two lip smacks but not the one leading into the first verse. I recorded the vocals and guitar at the same time so there is quite a bit of bleed and it wont dissapear. I did however re-record the last four lines with a little more passion. Have not decided if I will replace them in the mix yet though...

I did have some fun playing upright for a duo yesterday who I thought had some great songs. I will be producing an EP for them shortly.
