analog question

hey, i saw an add today for someone selling a tascam 8 track reel to reel recorder, not sure the tabe size, but i was wondering how i could incorporate that into an already digital studio. i dont know much about analog at all. I have a yamaha 01v mixer hooked up to my computer through an adat card to a adat sound card. Say i got this 8 track, i guess i could use my 01v to record to it right. what else would i need? how much different would the sound quality of that 8 track be compared to totally digital. thanks for any help.

If your 01V has enough analog outputs you could use that. The quality of sound will depend on a lot of factors like the tape width and quality of the machine.
