analog and digital studio, need help !!

hi,
sorry, i'm a belgium beginner ...
here's my gear : pro tools m powered, m-audio fast track ultra 8R, esi near 5 , mics , and an analog recorder fostex R8
what i'd like to do is recording with my tape recorder and then editing with protools ...
can you tell me how to do that and what gear i need more ??
hope someone can help me ...

there are many, many threads on this already, try a search.

personally, I would just do it digitally altogether.

2nd option would be to record as much as possible on the R8, then transfer and edit only at the very end.

The only snag I can see with this is that the Fostex has RCA/Phono connectors and the Ultra8R has 1/4" TSR jacks. You'll need a suitable cable loom to connect them together, but those aren't hard to find. It should work nicely enough.
