An open letter...

First my apologies for the cross-post; I'm hoping you'll understand the reason for it:

It has come to my attention that a few times in the past two weeks - and who knows how much more or longer than that - that someone is sending negative rep accompanied by vile messages loaded with four-letter words to people on this BBS and then signing my name to the message.

I am letting it be known right now that I resolved over a year ago to NEVER give out negative rep, and have not done so since, and never will. Nor have I ever disparaged anybody in any kind of private message, nor swore at them like a drunken sailor like I have been accused of a couple of times in the past two weeks.

Anybody who has recieved such messages claiming to be from me, rest assured you are being neg'd by a coward pretending to be me, and I ask you to let me know ASAP via PM exactly what they said while claiming to be me, as well as the time, day, thread and post # from which the false rep message was generated. This information is being tracked, and will be forwarded to Dragon as well as some IP hunter associates of mine with the aim of putting this offender to rest.

Thank you for your cooperation, and sincere apologies for any misunderstanding caused by the childish vandal masquarading under my name.

Yea I remember getting one with your name signed on it awhile ago. I was pretty sure it wasn't you though.

My aplogies, Danny, but I can guarantee you it was not me.

When I disagree with someone, I do it in public, not private, I don't do it anonymously, and - while the occasional 4-letter word comes out - I sure don't talk with the filth of the guy who has been sending the neg rep under my name.

And, knwoing just how meaningless negative rep power is on this board, I sure don't bother neg repping anybody.

Was The rep Written in Capitals? If so it may be the same person who is repping in Tragiks name as reported yesterday by madaudio (i think) Maybe you should pool your efforts.
 
Glen, anyone that's taken the trouble to read your posts knows that you are not the kind of person to leave nasty neg rep messages, or neg rep at all for that matter.

You know, I would like the positive rep thing to say as I enjoy giving positive rep, and I think that adds to the bbs. I wouldn't mind getting rid of the negative rep, though.

Anonymous positive rep rocks! :D

However, I would like rep like "inane post" rep, "you're an idiot" rep, and "Captain Obvious" rep...... :p

Having come from a family all from Chicago, I can attest to the fact that most folks form upstate IL are always willing to air their grievances with you to your face... not through lame neg rep.

So I trust that if/when Glen wants me to know why he thinks I'm an idiot for wanting the Bears to move to LA, he'd let me know like a man....with a firm pop to the nose! :D

Seriously though, do we really even need this rep thing?

I was a victim of the same thing a while back. I wonder if it was the same loser. Anyway, because of your reputation, Glen, the joke's on him. I'm sure anyone that received a neg rep from "you" didn't for one second think it actually came from YOU.

I hope that Dragon will soon be able to lock the guy out. I really haven't been here for a while, but even to me, it seems rather ridiculous that you'd insult people...

But now I understand why my reps didn't get better which in the end was the reason why I stopped visiting here ;)
