An error in the new Musician's Friend Catalog

I'm such a frickin' nerd that I've memorized the price of practically every piece of studio gear on the market these days, so I was pretty shocked yesterday, while reading the new MF catalog, to find the price of both Yamaha'a MSP3 and MSP5 as $249.

As far as I know, the MSP3 goes for $149 and the MSP5 for $249...I wish there was some way to take advantage of their error and get something for less money than normal, but because they actually overstated the price, it's probably not possible, right?

Um, overstated, I'd leave that one alone... Now understating, I'd be all over that. Order it over the phone and complain your way into the lower price. I don't think there's any way to take advantage of them saying it costs mor, unless you buy it from them for more and then sue them for something?!?!?!?!?!?! (please note: I do not condone that...)

Yeah, good call...taking 'em to court is just slightly more trouble than i'm willing to go through!

I took such great pleasure in finding that those bastards made a mistake that I couldn't stop thinking about some way to make it work in my favor.

Even if it had been the other way around, you probably wouldn't be able to take advantage of it. Somewhere in the fine print will be a legal disclaimer that they are not responsible for typos, printing errors, prices are subject to change, blah blah blah... I know several people who have spotted such mistakes in MF, AMS, Sam Ash and other catalogs. They tried to get them at the printed prices, but NO WAY JOSÉ. I suppose a case could be made for false advertizing, but you'd have to sue them (and that ain't frre or cheap), and you'd probably end up losing, or at most, winning, but still have to pay your legal fees.

Eh, good thought. I take it you don't like them, eh? I'm not a big fan of them either. I have only ever made 1 purchase a long time ago and paid for it on a credit card. Read: PAID FOR IT... I placed a web order a couple months ago and several days go by and I don't get it or hear anything about it, so I call in and say "Where's my stuff?!?!?" to which they reply "Your account is in collection and your oder was canceled." Never told me. So, I said "WHY AM I IN COLLECTIONS?!?!?!?" So, they called billing to find out why and cabe back and said that I needed to talk to them, so they transfer me to billing to figure out why and NOBODY EVER PICKED UP THE PHONE!!!!! I said screw it. I ordered it from Zzounds. MF is the devil. Zzounds is this musician's friend.
