an angry guy - by JoeyM

There was a little tiny tease of lead git harmony at 00:23 that I was looking forward to hearing, but it all worked out without it.

I think the song is really tight and my only nit is the drums get a little lost. Especially when they are puntuating the vocals. I'd like to hear them about 15% hotter.

Other than that, it's a really good song. Bravo!:D

Cool telephone effect on the vocals - I've always liked that effect :)

The tremelos and vibratos on this are really sweet.

The vocalist rocks - kicks it hard in the chorus...

The bass guitar seems a bit low to me but the rest seems really well mixed...

:cool::D:cool::D

Hey guys!
Thanx for pointing out those things to me....I know that I'm gonna have to fix some things, it's not the definite mix yet. Bass could be a bit more aggressive I guess.
oh yeah...the vocalist is me. Always wanted to do a mean, sludgey dirty kind of thing!

Thanx again an I'll post the new mix when I've fixed it.

Joey ;)

Cool tune Joe....
Yep... I think the snare is a bit over compressed in this second mix. Probably just making the attack time a little longer would do the trick.
As an aside, the pastor of the church where I work is Joe Muzzi.... too funny!

Peace,

~Shawn

I like the second mix better, Joey. The kick is good and I can get used to the snappy snare, but Shawn is probably right about the attack time.
The drum accents at the end of the chorus make this tune IMO. There the snappy snare works well and you almost want to turn up the tom a bit, but I can still hear it.

Also when you sing, "bang my fist" I like the punchiness of the snare. That's just me.

Good song, at any rate.

You have a good voice for this genre. I hear a bit of DLR from Van H.

right....here's my 3rd try!

I've put less attack on the snare, more low-end on the bass, delay on the voice a bit less...phew! But I think I'm getting there...

I hear a bit of DLR from Van H.

Xeries, you're too good to me! DLR is cool....

Cheers

Hey Shawn! I'll bet he's got italian roots too! Say to him for me...and thanks for your comments!

Joe ;)

Yep, he sure does...
His son took a trip there last summer, and part of a sight seeing tour was to visit this old cathedral. There was a mural on the ceiling painted there by a "Muzzi," evidently a distant ancestor. The cool thing was the fact that he didn't know this mural existed before he went in!

Good performance, man. I listened to the first mix before I noticed the others. Overall a little too hot in the 3 - 6 kHz range IMO, except vocals... the instruments sound kind of like there's a PSP Vintage Warmer on them.

Hi XLR!

Thanx for the comments! I use Waves SSL to "master" (if you could call it that!) Could be that's why the highs sound hot.

Cheers
Joe
