Enchilada:

"I have a mic200 And I'm quite pleased with it."

(1) Why don't you just get another mic200? Then you will have two of the same preamp (with limiters).

"I've been let on that the IMPs sound better than the MIC100 or MIC200."

(2) I think you will end up p*ssed at whoever told you that. You will get a much fatter/louder recording with the 200 (or 100) than you will with an IMP, especially an IMP imbedded in a UB802. I haven't opened my units up yet but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the 100/200 are actually based around an IMP.

(3) The 100 is a single subset of the 200 as far as I'm concerned (I "traded up" a 100 for a 200). The 200 is much more versatile than the 100.

(4) You're right---I don't think the VX2000 is what you're looking for. It does have phantom power, though.

I don't know what else to say, E.---I actually have/had all of these pieces and I think that if you A/B what you already have with an 802, you'll stick with what you have.

Hope this helped.

Good luck,
Paj

www.wwbw.com are one of the few big online retailers I've found who have a straightforward worldwide shipping system .. i.e. you don't have to call for a shipping quote. I checked the price of shipping a DMP3 to australia earlier - over $80!

You'll probably need to find a smaller store who is willing to ship USPS. Or if you contact maudio you may be able to find an online retailer closer to home.

Is it easy get stuff from asia in oz? I guess those customs guys check all parcels from asia.
