hello everybody!
i need help because i'm about to get a amp for a electric guitar (fender squier strato) and a bass. i want to get a nice amp that sounds powerful for a pub or a small bar, for playing on stage but nothing to expensive about 200 or less buxx...

thank  you

If its mic'd you can go kinda low on the watts for a small bar. I've heard many a 50 watter kick ass in a bar and mine does. You may get away with 20/25 if its the right amp/combo.

so which one do you suggest me??? what brand and something as i said... not above the 200 bux... and where get i get a good deal on a new or preused amp... thanx

200 bucks is a hard line to follow. I can't think of a single amp I'd use live for that little money. You're going to end up with a used solid state amp...you just have to look hard to find something that fits the budget. Try Harmony Central classifieds...some good deals on cheap amps there. Solid state, you're looking at at least 40-50 watts to keep up with a heavy hitting drummer...where a 20 watt tube amp would do the same job. But you wont find one of those for $200.

look hard in old used music shops. i got an old 50 watt fender amp (made in the 70's) that sounds amazing. it looks like shit, its all beat up, torn - but i got it for $200 and i love it. just keep your eyes open.

Some things I found for you on Harmony Central that are worth looking into:

Sale Laney 60 watt 2x12 combo-Amazing sound.LOUD Killer distortion!! $200 plus shipping

Peavey Special Solo Series Vintage Guitar Amp Asking Price: US$210

Peavey 212 special transtube amp Asking Price: US$250

FS- Behringer V-Ampire LX112 modeling amp Asking Price: US$180

TECH 21 TRADEMARK 60 COMBO Asking Price: US$250

Just search on the models and you can probably find them.

Roland makes some cheap and powerful solid state combo amps. I hear they aren't that bad.

look into the new Epiphone tube amp line..really worth it i would think..im getting the 5 watts one (cant keep the windows from shatering with the hotrod deluxe) to play home as soon as they hit europe...119 bucks lol :D

Those would never keep up with a drummer live unless you have a good PA system to back you up and you have some decent individual monitoring so you could use the monitors to hear your amp.

If you're planning to play bass out of this amp, you're gonna need at least 100 watts.

I didn't even see the bass part.....man, thats tough. Save up your pennies and eat ramen noodles for a month, thats my advise.

If you are planning on hearing the bass you are gonna need a bass amp. lol Guitar amp speakers (let alone most of the circuits in the amp) can't hit the frequencies needed for a bass guitar.

Hit your local pawn shop. Look for a Peavey TKO combo. Lots of power, usually pretty cheap.

ummmm, I know this has nothing to do with the money issue...but I recommend two 100w Marshall half stacks with slant cabs, some of those new handwired babies. No one will drown you out. Just my 2 cents or rather $5000. :D

You want an amp that you can play either bass or guitar through for gigs for under $200? Good luck with that.

What you wrote could be interpreted as you asking about one amp for both bass and guitar simultaneously. That would be an exceedingly bad idea no matter how much you spend on the amp.

You could get a keyboard amp and an amp modeler or a distortion pedal. That would yield reasonable results for guitar and bass. :-/

Oh yeah, pretty cheap too.

Just DI the bass into the PA, and buy a good guitar amp...I own the VOX AD30VT, which was 300 euros, bit out of your price range, but man this thing's loud! I still mic it up on stage to get a good spread throughout the stage and into the crowd...
What about micing a vox pathfinder 15R? I've heard good things about those amps, haven't heard one myself though...

I think you should also look for used stuff, as the other members are recommending.

good luck with it :)
Stan.

Vox makes the AD30VT (30 watts) for $239. If you want to look into Behringer like someone else suggested, they make a model called the GMX 2x12. This ones is 120 watts (2 60 watt speakers) This one is 250$ (200$ on www.zzounds.com/a--2676837)
