Hey everyone,

I have a studio rack and I'm looking to buy my first amplifier (to power my monitors and external speakers that run into my living room area) I need to power about 5 speakers (2 studio monitors, 2 regular home stereo speakers, and 1 shelf speaker that is going in the basement)

What would anyone recommend for a 2-space amp that would work for this setup? I don't mind the brand..I just want suggestions of things that'll do the job...

any suggestions much appreciated..thanx

There is an article in the current EQ about an ART single-space rack amplifier that the reviewer was quite taken with - it's not online yet or I'd provide a link...

I am not in favor of expecting an amp you buy for studio use to do home duty too. Buy a home amp at your local bigbox and leave the good amp in your studio room/rooms.

Crown Amps

Crown makes an excellect amplifier. To test how sturdy their equipment is they actually trhow it off the roof of their building and then go plug it in it see if it works.......and it does almost every time. Stury and reliable. You can get just about any size and power you are looking for. www.missionelectronics.com

Hmmm...throwing it off the roof. Novel.

I usually plug my amps into speakers to see how reliable they are.
