Hi I have a little hiwatt amp with with 2 10s in seperate cabs. The amp has a nice clean sound and the distortion is cool if I use a tubescreamer....but the damn thing hums..... any ideas? heres what i have tried to far.
1. using different plug in outlets
2. using no effects just going straight into the amp (less hum, but hum none the less)
3. checked/replaced all guitar cords.
4. tried to different guitars (sg, lespaul)
my 1964 fender vibro champ amp doesnt hum as bad as this hiwatt and it was made sometime after 2000 im sure. bought it new.....dont remember if it always hummed or not........its been tucked away and I drank alot back then LOL.
Thanks

probably best if you leave this to qualified tech... although it's not that hard.. just need to be careful that the ones in there are fully discharged before attempting repair... as to brands i just use whatever i can find... digikey is good for parts though they dont deal with tube type voltages for the most part... antique radio supply would be a best bet... watch the values though dont want to go too much past what was speced originally... some people find an increase of up to 50% can add some spank... others like a little less than original as the supply squats alittle under pressure leading to earlier distortion....(of the compression type)
