Amp Direct Recording (line 6 ax2)

I record direct to my Line 6 AX2, unplug the speakers, and it records with more lows less highs.


Its horrible, doesn't sound anything like the amp.



please help you ax2 geniuses! any tips on recording this thing would be greatly appreciated
 
It'll sound different for sure (as you found out) because what you hear is the interaction of the amp with the speakers. When I record mine, I put a AT4033 or two in front of it. If I want to go direct for some reason, I use my POD or J Station. I have to admit I was VERY disapointed at the direct outputs on the AX2 (on a headphone jack, unbalanced and it sounds like ass) but I love the amp itself.
 
This is just a guess..But how about the H&K Red Box..Would that help?I used to record with a Line6 Flextone 1 thru the headphones sometimes and it did sound.. well crappy LOL..but it really does sound much better if you mic the speakers..What about takein' some headphones{out of the headphone jack of the amp} and and micin' those?...
