Hey all.

I was on eBay, and found a steal on a Tascam us-1800, in the USA.

Living in the UK, I want to get it, but I'm not sure if it would work. Does anyone have any ideas on this, or know if a simple plug socket adapter might work?

Also, sorry if this is in the wrong place aha.

Thanks

DQ

If it's bus powered, you'll be fine. If it's AC powered, you'll need a converter between your socket and the plug (these are quite easy to get).

However, I would be more concerned with the import duty and VAT you might have to pay to import it (plus the cost of the converter), if the seller will even send to the UK. It might be cheaper and easier to buy it over here.

It should be okay, 'cos I've never paid import tax on anything yet.

And cheers man. I might just buy a new PSU for our plugs.

According to the user manual the 1800 comes with a universal, 100-240V power supply delivering 12volts at 2 amps (tho' the unit is only specc'ed as consuming 7.2W). Co-ax power plug on the AI, centre positive. (so you could run this in your car. Why isn't EVERYTHING 12volts DC!!!!???)

So, you COULD buy a UK line lump but all you really need is a UK13A to Yanky plug adaptor.

Dave.

Don't forget to teach it to speak the Queen's English as well.... :)
