AMD vs. Intel

I'm making my computer decision to setup a PC based system to go along with a Delta 1010 and Sonar.

Are there advantages to choose an AMD system rather than a Pentium IV or vice versa?

And when, for example, Cyberpower offers a choice of Motherboards is there a particular one for best performance.

I'm looking at a 2GB CPU w/ 1GB RAM, dual Hard drives, Windows 2000.

I'll be tracking music as well as want to explore MIDI keyboards, samplers and digital effects.

I'm also looking at Dell- any pros and cons whether to go w/ the big guy or a no-name?

Solve all your problems right now

Customize the AMD system to the specs you have drawn out here and go with the Alesus A7N266 420 and have fun
 
I think for performance, and most especially stability which is probably the most important consideration, a P4 on an Intel motherboard is hard to beat.

But take my opinion with a grain of salt since I work for the big chip maker inside. :D
