hi.
i am running this machine:

AMD Athlon 1700+ 266fsb
Gigabyte GA-7DXR Motherboard
Sonar 2.2
Echo Gina 24 sound card
Midiman 8x8 USB interface
ATI Radeon 9000 crad w 2 Monitors

i am running windows xp home w/ sp1
none of my software is 'cracked'

when i have about 4 audio tracks w/ about 4 effects on, sonar crashes.

it says'sonar must be shut down and asks to send an error report.

i 'tweaked xp' little....using stuff i found on forums.....i disabled windows messenger, and adjusted the 'Advanced Performance'
settings in the control panel. could that have messed up anything??

thanks

what's your RAM type and amount?
as well as the speed RMPs your Hard Drives are spinning at?

also make sure only the applications neccessary are running, disable autoprotect of your anti-virus software while running sonar.

and yeah...anyone else...?

I am at a loss. It's a Via chipset, which is approved by Echo and in my experience works great. XP isn't the problem, either.

I feel relatively uncomfortable messing with stuff like messenger, but I don't think that would be it either.

How much RAM do you have?

i figured it out at 4AM!!!

one of those "tweaks" i did to windows caused it to crash.

i just reversed it, and it works!!! i had 15 tracks w/ like 20 effects going, and no crash!

my dumb fault for listening to those damn 'tweakers'
