I am still trying to upgrade without spending a lot of money right now.
I plan to get an Aardvark 2496 this weekend and then upgrade the computer later. I realize that my amd-k6/2 350 Mhz, is not enough computer to work very well with this soundcard. (or any other for that matter). But until I come up with more money, I have a pentium II ( I think 350 Mhz) barebones system my son has sent me. Would it give me better performance than the amd-K6/2? Then maybe in 6-months I can get a pentium III.

the Pentium 2 will kick a little booty on the AMD for digital audio because of the floating point calculations issue.....dont know if the motherboard you have will support a pentium 3 but someone else may be able to answer that.....if its a fairly older computer, i wouldnt put much into upgrades.......

Thanks Gidge,
I thought the p-2 would help me some. When you say don't spend a lot on upgrades, what do you mean? I thought that I could later buy a new motherboard and processor and still use the rest of my gear. Is this dumb thinking?

No, I didnt mean it that way....I was thinking you wanted to get a processsor to run off your existing motherboard....a new motherboard/processor route is definitely the way to go....however you may find that hard drives and ram and stuff on your existing computer probably wont be up to speed with the new setup and youll want to get better (maybe)....
