ambient mix

It sounds pretty good man.

I think maybe the snare could benefit from being EQ'd slightly differently to take out that 'honky' aspect to it.

I think the bass could maybe be a little higher too. The clean guitars sound great, but the distorted guitars are adding a fizzy frequency which doesn't sound all that great. You might want to run a high pass on them to try to knock out that fizz or record them again with a slightly warmer tone or something.

I can't really hear what's going on with them too well so I can't comment in a very detailed manner I'm sorry.

Other than that I liked it man! :)

Agree that the bass could be a little more prominent, and the snare sounds a little muffled and distant. On the other hand I don't think the song would stand a hugely gated, crashing snare so I wouldn't tweak it much.

I like the song - reminds me of Sonic Youth but considerably more melodic. Are you planning vocals also? The distorted guitars sound good to me. Nice!

This was a song a few friends and i wrote and recorded mixed and mastered in about 2hrs.
An old drummer of mine was visiting from Colorado (Air Force). Another friend came down from college (San Marcos) and we had a few hours to plug up and jam.
We say that we are going to start playing again when we can all be together, but that will be a little over a year.......you know how that goes.
so i pretty much just threw mics up and said lets go.
Although the ambient distant but heavy sound is something that we all were going for.
I do wish i could find a really great vocalist.

Amusement Parks on Fire would be a band that might be the same genre as what we were going for.

thanks for the great feedback,

It sounds a bit noisy to me.. which takes away the "ambient" effect.

Everything just feels too clustered up into the middle.

1. The snare could use some reverb and less presence.
2. The clean guitar could be "pulled back" and use more wet reverb and less dry.
3. The distorted guitar could use a mellower tone.

Hope this helps.

Good work !

You should cut the lowend beneath 35Hz, there is to much energy in it !
Also cut a few db around the 2200hz area.
I like the snare as it is :-)
