Quick Little ambient diddy for side project. Did a rough mix this afternoon. Looking for critique, criticisms, banishment...

Any way, are the highs in the organ like pad a little harsh? What yall think about the lows? The piano is buried on purpose this is going to accompany a spoken word.

Thanks

sounds fine to me.....nothing jumps out...maybe bring the snare up a ball hair in volume...and the bass could do with a little automated wobble in it, though I bet youve aimed for this sound purposely

sounds good man, levels seem fine...look forward to the finished project

cool cool, Im at a point in my mixing career that I find it difficult to trust my ears. My mixes as of only 6 months ago are total pieces of shit. For some reason I was cutting low mids out of everything and my mixes were thin as paper. Earl, where do you get your vocal samples?

yeah Im probably at a similar level...I only started recording last August and it wasnt until around March this year i started to get happy with things...but I always back off the bass...its a bad habit, someone always comes along and says more bottom end then its fine lol

except that last track ;)

I get samples from all sorts of places...I have a huge soul collection and a netbook wired into my DAW...

Also CM and Music Tech's free DVDs can be a good source, theyre good for one shots as well just a bit pricey in the US

the ones on that ambient track are from a CD called High Heeled Divas...its mostly useless as they are pretty restrictive but Ive cut up loads of them and used it on about four or five different tracks
