Am I thinking of Sampling right?

Hey Everyone,

Ok here's the deal, I understand what drum samples are and everything.

My question is a simple one.

Can a sample sound be placed onto an existing track?

For example...

One would add some reverb to the snare drum. is it possible to use a sample as an effect?

Most of you will probably laugh at this. Its ok, im a strong guy!

in your example, it's easier to just add reverb. but it could be done.

there are various sample replacement programs in software, such as drumagog and drum replacer. You can also do it by triggering a drum module (if you have one with triggers) such as the Alesis D4. Then you can either use just the new samples, or blend the original in with the new.

You could also use the brute force method of dragging the new samples around on the screen until each one lays right under the original snare hit.
