The last song I recorded I used a technique where I recorded the same verse twice. Then I pan once verse to 81 on the left and 81 to the right. I wasn't sure if I should have panned it to 100 or another number. It seems to sound alright, but here it is if you want to hear it.

Let me know if my technique worked out correctly. Thanks.

if you like the way it sounds, then you were supposed to do it that way.

i don't pan much 100% either way, but the sound is all that matters, not the number.
 
Yeah, it isn't about being "correct" but about making it sound good. That said, I don't generally pan doubled lead vocals since stereo effect is not my goal. I like to pan them both center and make one the obvious vocal and the other a "thickening" track under the first. I often pan doubled guitar parts.
 
I agree with all the above. But i will say that generally if I'me doing a doubled LEAD vocal, I'll keep both panned up the middle but lower the volume of one of them by 50% or so. I just like the way it sounds. YMMV.
